Technical issues

Tip #1

Try a different web browser. The Diabetes in Schools learning environment has been optimised for Chrome and Safari. Other browsers may not work well, such as Firefox and Microsoft Edge or the [discontinued] Internet Explorer.

Tip #2

Try updating your browser. Most browsers automatically update, but you can check for updates in the settings menu and manually update if needed. You may also need to adjust your browser preferences. Talk with your school’s IT team for assistance.

Tip #3

Check your ZOOM IN/OUT function. If you have previously zoomed in or out on another website, the settings can sometimes stick and affect how you see the screen on the Diabetes in Schools platform.

Tip #4

Log out and back in again. If this doesn’t work, quit the browser or app you are using and open it again. If this doesn’t work either, reboot your device.

Tip #5

Make sure your Operating System is up to date. Updates remove outdated features and make the overall user experience better. Contact your school’s IT team to be sure.

Tip #6

Check you have a good internet connection. Poor internet can make online learning both frustrating and inefficient so if your signal is weak, try:

  • connecting your device directly to your modem with an ethernet cable. If your device doesn’t have an ethernet port, you can buy an adapter.
  • stopping other online activity while you are doing the learning modules, such as streaming, downloading or having other tables open. If you live with others, you could ask them to avoid using the internet while you’re doing the video modules.

Other issues

Tip #1

Zoned out while the video was playing? Don’t worry, it happens! There are prompts under each video, click-backs to specific video sections in the quizzes, and links to further information that are specific to the module.

Tip #2

Running out of time? You can save your place at any point during the training. Simply click save and exit, logout, grab a coffee or cake and come back again when it suits you.

When you log back in, you will be asked ‘How would you like to continue?’ Select Online (continue), then click Resume.

Tip #3

Something still not right? Be sure to first contact your school’s IT team to check for any problems at your end and then consider getting in contact with your local state coordinator via our training enquiries form.

This can be found at https://www.diabetesinschools.com.au/contact/
